Review:
Originally intended for release in September of 2012, Gangster Squad has belatedly in theaters this week. The film follows the story of the Los Angeles crime boss Mickey Cohen and a working group on site - books beat cops to bring him down. Based on a true story (What movie is not these days?), The film promises a lot but its fantastic cast come across as bland and boring.Set in Los Angeles in the '50s, Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) is a master criminal who has taken over and there seems to be no one who can stop him. Some cops are good outnumbered by police Cohen bought and it seems all hope is lost. But police chief Nick Nolte decides something must be done and for good, tough cop Josh Brolin put together a team to go after the Cohen. Listed below is a joint team of policemen not so perfect that, and the war that wages Cohen empire.Sound familiar? Because we have already seen this movie, only made better. You can choose to cut clichés as you look. Good cop was grilled by themselves corrupt cop it? Check it. Old cop harder and jènl prot? G? Check it. Henchman of evil boss bad? Check it. The list could go on, but it would peck territory. The highest score of the film is a bit 'predictable about half. You can predict all the events that will be played at 20 minutes past, while being sufficiently its beautiful, nothing you havent seen before.The its disposal is one of the names. What makes the film even more disappointing. With names like Brolin, pesticide, Penn and rock that should blow you away. But the characters are nothing more than caricatures and no one has the ability to represent any real depth, with the possible exception of John Ribsi. Sean Penn seems rare in a mountain of makeup, even if it fully meets its performance in mind. Ryan pesticide comes in a very good performance, but most of the rest of the cast is stuck in the role of cutting cardboard and put the story on the rails. We all know where they are going to go, we just have to wait for them to get there.Also worth mentioning because of the delay in the film release. Originally the film was to be released in September 2012, but then the shooting, Aurora took place. Then, one of the key pieces to put in the film was a scene in which the characters shoot people from behind a screen in a movie theater. Realize how disastrous it would receive in the wake of the Aurora, the study immediately stop promoting the film and began redesigning the scene. Throw in reasanble in August to turn on sequence, which is taking place in Chinatown. Something that I liked: Robert Patrick's performance as the gunslinger grizonan old more. As a fan of Terminator 2 was nice to see him still pulling people out of nearly will.Something I did not like: The biggest point predictable. After 60 minutes, I mentally made a list of things I thought would happen in the last 20 minutes or so of the film. On my list of things on the 6, 5 of which occurred exactly as I predicted.Something that eavesdropping me: the scene with Josh Brolin and Nick Nolte appeared to be shot out of focus. 'E was particularly evident in shots of Nolte. For a film with a budget of $ 75M, this just should not happen.Summary: Finally Gangster Squad is a fun enough 100 minutes, but it was anything important. There's no great performances, not spectacular set pieces nor any great moments that you will go home talking about. For women there is a great deal of pleasure for the eyes, in the form of an appropriate and Fedora-toxin of Ryan, and Emma Stone in a story for Mr. idle with no-and Robert Patrick. But the story is never really able to jump on the page and become something. He said that Mickey Cohen is bad, but hes never anything more than the bad. We dont hate, we do not sympathize with him or desperately want it to be updated. Hes just bad. The same thing can be said for all the characters, and the story as a whole. What makes it complex, ultimately forgettable.
